My recommendation would be to stick with it, finish the program, and then you should check out let's learn japanese basic on youtube. By the end Japanese sounds less like word salad and more like a logical language. The quizzes are really helpful for drilling in vocabulary. You build up a tidy little base vocabulary. It definitely made learning hirigana easier, since you're forced to read it right away and you have the audio to check yourself. When they come out with the second one, I'll be buying. You don't learn a TON, but for the price, it's a perfect primer for someone self studying japanese. I finished it and I loved it! I would definitely recommend it as a first resource.
